Does dependency injection naturally break separate compilation if done statically?
I don't know what counts as "doing it", but even the bad old Lisp Machine DEFSYSTEM by 1983 had a provision for explicitly declaring that some modules depended on other modules for their definitions (e.g. due to using macros).

Yeah I guess what I said was too strong — things are more complex, but I buy their argument that what they do is cooler than the alternatives they describe. (But no, I don’t know all other existing Lisps).
