I can't remember... were you at the Portland WGLD? We had an interesting conversation about this. Do containers/VMs count as images?

They ought to be, but all the config BS would need to be completely transparent. Seems more tractable to turn images into containers than the other way around.

I've never used images in earnest, but a huge advantage of containers, etc., is the ability to work statelessly. Images are more stateful, right?

That's a disadvantage. Stateful is what you need. Building them from scratch is essential functionality to have, but you shouldn't be using that too often. It is a colossal waste of energy.

Stateful and stateless are dual points of view on the sale computations. What I want is a system that can change point of view... and then also differentiate state into changes and integrate changes into state.
