As a fun thought experiment, I wonder what would be the gut reaction to the idea of "centrally" planned markets, where prices are chosen by referendum. So the owner of a business has no more or less say than you do in how much their goods cost.

I'll give free reign in interpreting the idea in reasonable ways. I'm more interested in the reaction of non-economists, since I guess most economists could very quickly pick some very big holes in the idea
