I'll go further: Haskell do-notation vs direct style is ultimately as imbecilic as Perl @list context vs $scalar context, just less practical.
The identity monad is a monad, too!
If only there were something called "typeclass" to automatically deduce proper monad from context!

I didn't know that was the general consensus among proponents of monads (fwiw, I am a counterexample). Disgust seems a bit too much tbh.
