It is possible that static typing offers no real advantages, and instead is more like helicopter parenting by compiler, making programmers themselves more fearful and anxious, unable to handle the (dynamically typed) real world

Coming from Lisp to OCaml, I miss metaprogramming a whole lot, and often swear at the type, module and object systems. But I really like that when (re)factoring, the type system basically tells me when I'm done, and then the code usually runs just fine modulo some configuration.
