The day of the royal wedding, we could not keep our eyes off her. What was she thinking, as she sat in the pews of the five-hundred-year-old chapel, enveloped in history and irony? http://nyer.cm/LQ4nfxb pic.twitter.com/y8FacNvKgc

Did anyone focus this much on Kate's parents and their mindset? Why is everyone so focused on how "humble" Meghan's mom must have felt. Tell you what: she probably was thinking "Damn straight I belong here!"

Pardon my language - it's church so she probably wouldn't have said "damn" but you get what I mean!

Of course. I know and agree. But she did seem alone during the service. Hardly spoke to anyone in the pew.

Probably what most mothers hope: that their children have made the right decision, will they be happy & satisfied in their lives, etc., also how sweet and hopeful these 2 looked as they embarked on their life together; probably what an interesting twist of fate brought her there

Speak for yourself. Since when did the New Yorker become so fawning and so politically correct? I always thought it stringently realistic with sophisticated wit. Maybe the paper version still is.
