Of course. Capitalism cannot exist without inequality. Equality is the primary tenet of democracy. I.E., capitalism is antithetical to democracy. This is not hard.

Unrestrained capitalism is a threat to everything that gets in the way of profits. Obviously. Next question.

Democracy is flawed. Which is why capitalism and other such systems are threats

Good thing we are a republic

No. Other way around. Capitalism is simply a system of private property ownership. Private property rights are essential for economic freedom which is important for civic and political freedom. Important that capitalism is protected from the whims of elected officials.

Personal property: good Private property: creates homelessness because landlords must make profit
-
Personal property, private property, same same. I think the landlord profit incentive leads to more homes being built. Unfortunately we suffer from overly stringent zoning and NIMBYism holding development back.
-
Literally not the same. Private property refers to land ownership. Landlord profit incentive leads to them 1) charging as much as they can for homes (leading to homelessness) and 2) spending as little time and money taking care of them, leading to poor people living in shit
-
Fair point re the distinction but when it comes to capitalism the distinction doesn't matter. My stuff is my stuff and I can do with it as I wish so long as I'm not harming anybody. And I disagree re profit incentives - nothing wrong with making a profit via free trade.
-
I mean except for the obvious problems I just gave you, and other problems that are less visible, yes there's nothing wrong w the profit incentive except that it incentives making money rather than making sure people have a place to live
-
We strongly disagree here. That's ok. You might not like capitalism but you'll still get to enjoy the benefits. Stats don't lie - for hundreds of years people have migrated towards capitalist societies and I don't see that changing.
-
Feudalism would like a word w your reasoning here. I've given you evidence of what happens when you commoditize homes—all you've given back is ideology. We clearly disagree, but don't pretend our justifications are equal. Grenfell killing 200 people wouldn't happen wo capitalism.

Capitalism is a method of economy, NOT GOVT. The
#SCOTUS has allowed big donors’ dark
to BUY the Govt. intended to be OF, FOR & BY THE PEOPLE. We are now being GOVERNED OF, FOR & BY THE CAPITALISTS on the backs of #WeThePeople. Corps became people; the people became slaves.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
