In Sweden, every Saturday is effectively a national holiday, called lördagsgodis, which means “Saturday candy”: http://nyer.cm/K74Vxve pic.twitter.com/f981EMoetE

Our Saturdays are the same. It’s called ‘nammidagur’ (candy-day) here.

Swedes consume a lot of candy but to declare each Saturday a national holiday is one big exaggeration. It is common though that Swedish families gather in front of the TV on Fridays to experience Cozy Friday (fredagsmys) with potato chips and the like.

The point of lördagsgodis is to reduce the candy consumption to a single day a week. Not to worship sugar or diabetes ;)

This sounds awesome! It does how however violate the Galactic rule that National Holidays must always fall on workdays.
