Victims have the right to be heard. They & their families deserve a voice in prosecution & sentencing-they are the ones who suffer the most. If you don't know anyone or have never been a victim of a violent crime, good for you. If you have, you would know why it's important.

Of course it’s important; I would say it’s invaluable. It mustn’t detract from or obscure other fundamental sentencing principles, however. (Considered correctly, it can add to them.).

Colorado has an Amendment to the state Constitution giving victims rights. It made a huge difference for a lot of the victims and families here in CO over the years.
