A small group of Swedes may have "taken it upon themselves to arbitrate world literature" but it is the responsibility of individuals if they listen.

Without the Nobel list to guide me I doubt I would have read the amazing works of Elfriede Jelinek, Herta Muller or Magda Szabo.
