People have been trying to fathom Hitler’s psyche for nearly a century. Ron Rosenbaum, in his 1998 book “Explaining Hitler,” gives a tour of the more outré theories: http://nyer.cm/JWazruB pic.twitter.com/0EIdu48kXW

His psyche is so much less important than the social & political factors that led millions of “good people” to allow his takeover of the German gov. It’s not trump’s psyche we need to worry about it’s our own slow creep towards facism here & how to prevent it

Based on Volker Ullrich’s biography of Hitler & Peter Longerich’s biography of Goebbels, Hitler’s personality had everything to do with the rise of Nazism! He was Nazism personified, when he died, the movement died, helped by total defeat I admit!

When Nazism defeated he commited cowardly suicide to avoid his appearance in Court.Other dictators faced Court and apologise to justify their actions. He was only a puppet without any personal value.Efforts to demonize him are efforts to hide real Nazists
