With all due respect, I don’t think it’s men like Rebanks we should be criticizing. Industrialized farming and its customers is the issue, hardly someone who cares as deeply for the environment as he does.

a lamb on your plate.

Hardly the same, I feel. We all die. It’s how that matters - and the lifes we get to live beforehand. I’d rather be roaming the Dales than be stuck in a farrowing crate.

how long exactly does a lamb get? i am soooo tired of pictures of farmers and their cute lambs.
-
About a year? More than most would get without the care of a shepherd, I think. They’re herbivores after all. I choose not to eat meat, but respect people who care for their animals and land.

wow, this is the new yorker? i know they have a reputation for fact checking. try three months. lambs live for three months.
-
Well, some are slaughtered at 6 weeks, some much later(mutton). In any case it’s quality vs quantity. I do agree though there’s a mind boggling discrepancy between adoring piglets and lambs and consuming (cheap) meat.
