The problem with “Westworld,” though, is its insistence that souls are inherently corrupt.http://nyer.cm/JZIcQqy

Not "the problem" but the cogent observation.

If you characterize a thoughtful, complex plot as "torture" idk what to tell you, man. Especially considering there is not a plot hole to be found in this show thus far.

Absolutely, as our Humanity is made up of the Soul "a purveyor of selfish desires", and the Spirit "the life force God breathed into us". Hence the infamous reference your, Devil side and Angel side!

I loved Westworld; I love the complexities of the puzzle and was on board with it being a puzzle from the first time loop - the clues are there. To me, this is an old puzzle: what does it mean to be human? Also, a riff on the exploitation of those sentient other.

We are basically made off 50 Good / 50 Evil, some off us tend to be leaning more to one side due to medical or environment, conditioning, excessive indulgence and mainly ignorance. Evil is easy, indulging every whim and thought. While Good asks a lot to raise Humanity Good Sense.
