@NewYorker — Please, please revise your terminology: newborn babies are not “addicted”, they are opioid-dependent. Neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) can be effectively treated with morphine or methadone. Language matters. #EndtheStigma

An Empire of Pain, Death, Addiction, Broken Families, infants born addicted.....this list goes on and on. The Sackler family $$$ should be providing #narcan to every community that is fighting this crisis.

Check out the book “Dreamland” by Sam Quinones. It’s a good read and really details how this epidemic got so out of control. Perdue Pharma, Mexican Cartels, unscrupulous MD’s opening “pain clinics” across the nation created a perfect storm.

Yet somehow Republicans keep saying that the opioid crisis was caused by people coming in illegally over the Mexican border. In fact, it was doctors over-prescribing & the promos by a greedy pharmaceutical company.
