The disdain that so many people feel for millennials reflects an unease about the forces of deregulation, globalization, and technological acceleration that are transforming everyone’s lives: http://nyer.cm/zcQyWiH pic.twitter.com/kbB86NHSW3

The disdain is due to the millennials/next gen accepting they are told what to think not HOW to think, then they think they are knowledgable, but can't spell or count without the assistance of an electronic device

I have no idea why there are all these depictions of millennials as "forever teens". There are plenty of millennial majors and gunnery sergeants who have banked plenty of deployments. Everyone on the left of your illustration besides the old man could easily be a millennial.

In my experience, they are a definite upgrade. They smoke less, do less drugs, are hard workers, in touch with themselves and others, empathetic, informed, far less inclined to be bigoted in any form...not all, of course, but generally a gen to be proud of.

It’s also just reflective of problems people have with change in general & overall generational bias. Socrates complained about the youth of his day. It’s an irresistible impulse. We’ll be complaining about the next generation when they come along too.

It is interesting that those doing the loudest complaining can't remember that they were also young once and the old fogies said this about them.

I'm a boomer who doesn't get this whole "disdain for millennials" idea. I spend a couple of weeks a year with millennials nearly exclusively during @sxsw and it's always one of the highlights of my year.

It's unfortunately the future that, at this point, no one can stop! Money controls the world, not human fulfillment & happiness. But scary.

you're joking. Who runs our lives? Amazon, Facebook, Google, Apple, are they run or founded by millenials? No. Millennials are despised because they're over sensitive, over sentimental, overly self conscious and absorbed, and overly self righteous.

1968: i didn't agree with my family about bell bottoms, war and what = patriotism. this is a watershed moment again. let's embrace it because there's no turning back. disdain only hurts the...(uh)...disdainer.

I don't feel disdain for millennials - I feel admiration and hope. The torch for "Greatest Generation" has been passed today.
