The National Enquirer bought the rights to Karen McDougal’s story about her affair with Donald Trump, but never published it. It’s a practice known in the tabloid industry as “catch and kill”: http://nyer.cm/XUmo4qg pic.twitter.com/1liNTN4t1H

There really isn’t much in this world related to Trump that isn’t sleazy and underhanded.

Not sure how this story is good for New Yorker. Don't become a tabloid please, just because it exposes Trump. Don't run after every woman who claims to have had sex with him. The Stormy Daniels affair was important. This one seems more like scrapping the bottom for clicks

The point isn't adding to the more than substantial trove on information about Trump's many misdeeds. The point is to expose the practice of killing important news stories in order to benefit a candidate.

A practice as old as politics and media themselves. Unlike Stormy Daniels' story which had the potential of an illegal act and involved the candidate directly in trying to cover his tracks.

Of course because the National Enquirer is known for its impeccable journalistic integrity.
