The Trump Administration's “Harvest Box” proposal is a new kind of horrendous.http://nyer.cm/y6qUaeS

I fear the pkgd food would be cheapest the govt could find, high in sugar, salt, fats, preservatives. But more: telling poor people “you have to eat what we send you, even if you don’t like it or want something else, or go hungry,” is unforgivably insulting, belittling, intrusive

Perhaps Melania’s friend Stephanie Winston Wolkoff has a friend who can make these boxes for millions and millions of dollars profit.

So, @realDonaldTrump , your food box will have high sodium products, high cholesterol products, high fat content products, etc. because they have shelf life! But since there will be little health care available for these people...you are killing them!!!

No fears. We'll be just fine. The NYC subway pizza-eating-rat will be the Program’s mascot.

I've been staring at this text box for 3 minutes trying to decide what I could write that would reflect how I feel about this. Here's what I came up with. The US government are scum. I'm sad that I feel comfortable to write such a disrespectful statement but that's where we are.

What are the chances he would fill them with Trump branded products and charge the US govt for them like they were military toilets?

While I agree that there needs to be some changes, this would not be it. WIC is a very good program, maybe run SNAP in a similar manner. I see so much junk food being bought, kids need a healthier diet. 90% of kids @ my school bring Takis for snake or lunch, full size bag's.

My MIL got such a box monthly in Tennessee. It was awful: cheap no name canned pork n beans & greens, oatmeal, dry milk, applesauce, fruit cocktail, dry beans of every sort, cheap tuna, fatty canned pork, chunk canned chicken. Most it the trash, she couldn't give it away!
