Even if the “America’s Harvest box” proposal is just a fantasy, how telling it is that America’s leaders fantasize in such detail about punishing the poor for being poor.http://nyer.cm/Vlydnoo

Has anyone one of these elite lawmakers ever read a label as to pick one thing SODIUM in prepared foods. What happens for the diabetic, person with allergies or heart condition with these junk boxes of food? Let people choose!

The original proposal did not go far enough for a provision of nutritious food but I still do not see how trying to nourish our own in the breadbasket country that we are is a stigmatization. Food Coops/banks are not a judgment they are an opportunity to feed our own.

So giving free food is punishment? This type of thinking is what perpetuates the problems of the poor. Look at dem policies in the poor inner cities. They are ineffective. We need a new approach and new policies.

Not punishing. Making sure they get nutritious food. Too many spend their food benefit money on pop, baloney and chips. I have seen it.

Some people are allergic to milk, beans, peanuts. Recipients should be allowed to continue to shop for themselves. Then you have diabetics who need a special diet. Canned food is loaded with salt and sugar.

Can food over fresh fruits & veggie would lead to more costly health problems for infants & elders down the road. Food subsidy ultimately benefits farmers; the fundamental source of human necessity. Without food no society can sustain itself.
