And that pesky fear of being hungry, sick and homeless in a country that hates the poor it creates. The poor engage in riskier behavior because other behaviors are denied or have failed them. The system is rigged against the poor & is getting worse every day.

equality rather than the mealy-mouthed ‘equality of opportunity’ should be a policy goal to be aspired to

Could it be the grinding cycle of being exploited, excluded and ignored ?

It's not about what you actually have, it's about what you feel you have that matters.

It's ridiculous and judgmental but that is the world we've accepted as a whole. Even if I disagree wholeheartedly.

sociologists have referred to as anomie. Glasgow’s working class has a shorter life expectancy than the poorest castes in India, in part due to the feeling of class anxiety and isolation that comes from being poor and comparing that to those with more around you.

As someone who grew up extremely poor. The most damaging thing is doing nothing.. Don't accept it. I work 60 hrs a week. Don't vote for those that hold you down with high tax. I left the taxed to death Democrat East. I now pay no state tax (instant raise). Now HAVE MY OWN HOUSE!

Struggling to not "feel poor" to have your family not feel poor is behind the seemingly bad decisions poor people make. Studies have supported this thesis.

This would be something a psychologist would say. Starving to death, freezing to death mean nothing without the correlate feelings.

No wonder the left targets imbeciles with their Envy Culture. It works on feeble-minded seculars, because it requires so little thought.
