How do you “fix” a game in which the attraction of the game resides in its violence, in the crash of huge, super athletic men, down after down, game after game, year after year? http://nyer.cm/Wc8wLgl

Pro football is 100 yrs old... is level of brain injury higher now? Leo Nomellini played 49er tackle for 14yrs in the 50s -60s without missing a game. died at 76 yrs old...evidently w/o brain damage. was he not hit as hard?

Pahokee, FL,has produced some NFL players who probably would have made the same decision knowing about injuries considering the financial awards and escape. In that part of the state, there are not many other ‘safer’ options (same county as Palm Beach...)

Other contact and semi contact ball games like soccer and rugby have gradually changed rules on aggressive tackling and this has meant attacking players have an advantage on defensive players a lot of the time, creating more exciting play.

But rugby codes don't start each play with teams opposing each other directly over the line if scrimmage.
