After awhile, the elimination of the worker will result in elimination of the shopper.

Replacement of the human workforce by robots or ai may lead to an economy slowdown due to an increase in unemployment.

The jobs will disappear but that is not a bad thing. We won't need cashiers just like we won't need drivers. Why let people do a job that's essentially useless. Of course the transition will be painful but ultimately with #UBI people would be free to do more fulfilling things.

@Amazon: 'Go' is the preferred name of the proposed University, I think. Considering the 'long tail' meme, seems University is finished. (Image: technical weave) @Apple (iTunesU)pic.twitter.com/ZM0A2BXPw4

Well, somebody still must grow, manufacture, package the goods (incl those high tech checkout rigs),right?Somebody still makes decisions on what to buy right? And somebody must deal with the refuse after the purchase, consumption process is done, right? How about asking a diff question?

Whats the poem about i didnt say anything until they came for me? Everyone needs to take a long hard look at this and start thinking. If everyone gets replaced, who will buy things? Is UBI the answer? Should the gov tax automation? How would you tax this?

Shopping is still work. Removing the checkout process saves like 5 minutes. The process of finding products and making purchasing decisions is the real chore. If they really want to change retail, they have to change how people interact with the environment and the merchandise.

The same as it’s always meant. Automation has eliminated MANY MANY jobs. This is nothing new.
