Eliza Griswold tracks the journeys of artists fleeing Syria’s civil war: “Last year, wondering what it means to be a Syrian artist when Syria in many ways no longer exists, I began to map the journeys of a hundred artists from the country.”http://nyer.cm/0TX6uCX

NOBODY in the U.S. wants to "be in the hook" FINANCIALLY to "solve" Syria's "migration problems," much less SUBSIDIZE Iraq/Afghanistan/Yemen/Libya's Common Defense. The DNC just needs to "take the bull by the horns" & steer the public debate towards areas which they cannot lose

In addition, the DNC candidates for Congress should run on REALLOCATING or "REPATRIATING" HUGE SUMS of U.S. TAXPAYER $ from FUTILE expenditures "policing" ISLAMIC STATES to BENEFICIAL USE back in U.S. STATES: turning Trump's "winning" America First talking points into ACTION.

Do not believe it. The next DNC candidates for office MUST RUN ON THIS SIMPLE PLATFORM: gradually extricating OUR ARMED SERVICES from CONFLICT ZONES & the CESSATION OF PROVIDING WEAPONS/TRAINING which are simply USED AGAINST our own troops. The DNC needs NEW IDEAS like this.

Unfortunately, this 1400 year old conflict is "the perfect pretext" for an ENDLESS Defense-Contractor-Profit-Driven agenda where- lo & behold!- the GOP would have the US VOTERS believe that "we cannot extricate ourselves from" if they run "puff piece" stories amidst suicide bombs

Just this: therein nothing more intellectually dishonest than the shopworn notion that the military conflict in Iraq/Syria/___ is ANYTHING OTHER than a 1400 YEAR OLD RELIGIOUS WAR. We can "reframe it" and/or "rename it" a "modern civil war" but, alas, it is a SUNNI v SHIA DISPUTE
