This A.I will tag your every move and purchase. Give it a year of learning and it will have a whole dataset of your moves. Imagine if this AI is implemented in public spaces and then given this dataset input, it could potentially predict what will you likely do, or buy. SCARY!!!!

Checkers do a lot of stocking. They'll still need to do that. Unless Amazon's got the robots on that, too. (And they will.)

But we need to import 1 million low-skill workers every year.

Yes, and stocking can also be done by robots already. Drivers will soon be obsolete. So how are we going to fill the workforce gap? Need to solve these issues very soon or the polarization of our society will accelerate quickly.

In 1952, Kurt Vonnegut wrote “Player Piano” about the implications of near total automation in what-was-then an ultra-distant future. I can save everyone some time: It doesn’t end well.

How will people earn money in 10-20 years?
-
Maybe with a fixed income for all? I have my reservations on this proposal but seems more tangible with each new tech innovation that replaced human labor. We’d be talking about robot/AI rights as a parallel of human rights in no time...

For all the Amazon cynics who are worried about the loss of jobs.. Stop buying online then. No? OK.

Human workers are still needed for distinguishing between things. A.I. can't do things like construction or teaching. There's lots of other jobs.

Technology should be a tool to assist humanity and not be a substitution for it.

With all of this new fancy technology to do the work for us, who's going to be shopping at those stores once their jobs are eliminated?

Retail workers have been losing their jobs for some time. AI has been taking over in stores like Walmart with growing use of self-checkouts, etc. We NEED UBI. It's rapidly becoming apparent that without it, the majority of the world population will be crushed.

A full scale nuclear strike could hardly have had as powerful an effect on the landscape. Malls are rapidly disappearing. Tried to find a bookstore today, with Tropic of Cancer, Ulysses, Celine (Journey to the End of the Night), Radical Chic. Struck out on all counts. Amazon has.
