Trump has really dropped the ball on this one. If karma does exist, and it most assuredly does, then I'd hate to be him just on the issues of Montecito and Puerto Rico. You just don't fool with karma. It will bite you hard.

Like the authors sister-in-law, I was evacuated from my home in Ventura for a week. I have since helped friends rummage through the rubble of their homes looking for anything that survived... and I too live at the base of a hill that burned...

... and I too was under voluntary evacuation the night of the rain. And I too was too tired of being displaced to evacuate... we sandbagged and called it a night. Had the center of that storm hit 15 miles south, the dead could be my neighbors... or me.

And every day since, I have updated the president in response to whatever his childish tweet of the day is to the rising death toll. The ages and names of the still missing. And still, not a single word or tweet from our president on this horrific event.
