"She coped with isolation by running up a three-thousand-dollar-a-month phone bill and reading everything from potboilers to the pillars of the Western canon." - suddenly our own internet-café-wifi and free-messaging-apps age sounds not so glamorous #MarleneDietrich #bio

I can’t imagine she would have coped well with today’s “backwards books” trend.

Marlena is a woman after my own heart! We’ve got more than 2000 books on Kindle and way more physical books. I still regret the dreadful cleansing of 2000. We’ll never recover.
