        Knowledge = power. They can't have too much. The prison system is corrupt and by keeping inmates "ignorant" they ensure the system stays the same.

        This is more about the grift of the allowed suppliers than banning books. More than books are being restricted to approved suppliers.

        I can't believe the comments below - prisoners are still people & deserve to be treated with respect, as we all do. There's no good reason for this, either & probably worse for the guards. @NYGovCuomo this is ridiculous and we hold you accountable.
