The effort that Will Smith spends exerting his active imagination in “Bright,” an inane, tone-deaf film, is painfully visible: http://nyer.cm/y6oX2oR pic.twitter.com/tcy1tMTAA0

I'm not a professional critic, neither do I have a copy deadline to meet. I just enjoy a relax with Netflix at weekends and last Friday night, I enjoyed Bright. Dare I suggest the movie is more designed to entertain than intellectually stimulate.

I feel like that was the whole point of the movie. It was meant to show racial stereotypes in a way that was shocking.

It was a pretty bad movie. I say that as a total sci-fi nerd

I say it was pretty good for a modern fantasy buddy cop film that was practically free.

For $90million and with an A-lister they could have done better. The dialogue was poor, the plot lame, and the acting horrible. Guess we'll see if the sequel is any better

Dear New Yorker... spend twenty minutes googling "elves modern AU" and get back to us. The public was craving this. I loved it.

When you don't like a thing, you should leave people alone who do like the thing. It's part of being a grown up.

I disagree. As an action movie it was fine, as a deep treatise on modern America it doesn't. Whoops,I guess "it was ok" wasn't really news.
