Loved the music however it was over used and didn't need to be playing in every scene.

And that is the case with every STAR WARS movie - their scores are all wall-to-wall? This is an integral part of that universe's language and texture.
-
Watched 4,5 & 6 not too long ago and it's not the case. Eg. Luke, Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru at the breakfast table or Luke in the bacta tank in empire. In the newer movies they seem to have music through every scene. Most classics don't do that. That let the actors act.
-
I was using "wall-to-wall" somewhat liberally. There are plenty of moments in TFA and TLJ that contain no music. We just intimately know which scenes in 4-6 are like that.
-
Ok one last point. Watch the Vader v Luke fight scene from empire. Only had music when it gets gripping, such as when Vader uses the force to throw things at Luke. Otherwise zero music but great tension.

Good luck finding anything worth humming to from this crap 20 years from now, unlike the original and prequel trilogies.
-
Hummability is not a metric by which music should ever be criticized.

For some popcorn flicks I wholeheartedly disagree.

Agreed. I've come to realize that I've been rewatching Episode VII because I enjoy listening to it as much as viewing it. The score is Williams at his best.

If you ask me, "TIE Fighter Attack" is definitely the theme song of the Millennium Falcon, especially when flying in very tight spaces.
-
I loved how John Williams weaved TIE Fighter Attack into TLJ. Such a great theme.

The Last Jedi is truly one of the greatest, if not the greatest, Star Wars film. After watching it a second time, one can see how well planned out and detailed it is. I can't wait to buy it on Blu-Ray and discover everything else that I missed.

You have your opinions and I have mine. There's no need for childish name calling.

Did we really need a genius like Williams to give us a melody of past star wars greats? Only unoriginal star wars score of his ever. Hoping for return to form with 9
-
Repeating themes have always been a hallmark and an important one in starwars scores. You need the force theme. Luke’s theme. Leias theme. They are wonderful and have to be there and thankfully they are.
-
Yes. Sprinkled well in Force Awakens, but I could just listen to a best of SW as opposed to Last Jedi.
