Men often wanted Joni Mitchell to be a wife, a muse, a siren, or a star. Instead they got a genius: http://nyer.cm/QLiYFvo pic.twitter.com/N9yPprJcYZ

I still 'see' Joni skating on my morning runs along Madison's frozen Lake Mendota. One photo shoot after the 1976 ice storm that delayed her tour, two classic album covers!pic.twitter.com/VPfLVq3FdH

I spent my 2nd New Years Eve with her last night. Last year we were both in wheelchairs. This year we're walking... and still alive!

Joni drew a picture of me years ago when I met her after a folk festival here in L.A. I was shocked and honored. I'll scan it for you when I get a chance.

Please do, I'd love to see. I still have my CSNY LP, So Far, featuring cover art by Joni Mitchell. Fitting as CSNY covered Joni's song, Woodstock!pic.twitter.com/2gpoU1ToT0

Rewriting a first line as a gentle invitation to think differently: Joni Mitchell's genius is its own yardstick.

She caught my attention as well. Very unique voice, she has an old soul quality to her writing style. One to follow for sure. Whether she’ll be up there with Joni is yet to be seen.

Have just finished reading my Christmas gift copy of Reckless Daughter. Fascinating, though perhaps a little bit fan-boy. Worth every moment though and it sent me back to Blue, to the Hissing, to Mingus.
