With “Songs of Experience,” has U2 run out of things to say? http://nyer.cm/fBnXtnD pic.twitter.com/qoOsd3xfpt

Nothing like a good shallow listen and a careful cherry-picking of the lyrics to support whatever you were going to write anyway.

Usage of a roughly 12-year old photo implies a certain laziness as well. "Ugh, I gotta review U2. Dig me up something from the archives, 'kay? I dunno, maybe Bono looking arrogant in a hat."

Yes they did actually, way back in the day. But that day is about 20 years back.

As a lifelong fan (from 1980 on), i stopped listening to anything they put out after 2000. No more concerts, either. Billionaire, tax sheltering band not getting any more $ from me.

A guy stares at death and catalogues both the good and bad of his life and how all the money and stardom doesn't help you at 4 in the morning when you realize you are going to die. That's the essence of this album, easily their best work in 20 years (not a fan of recent stuff)
