The question should have read "why haven't I heard of her". Doesn't mean others are stupid when somebody discovers something the "majority" may not know. One could learn a lot at The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture if they're interested.

Probably because she was Black, female bodied, seemed to be a lesbian and was masculine presenting. Most likely was a trans man.
