I agree with this a bit. I wish women felt more empowered to act on sexual harassment or assault right when it happens. Like, kick the asshole really hard, or yell out loud, "Hey, don't touch my ass!!"

Are girls today being taught to be sufficiently assertive? I have no idea. I know I wasn't and still have problems with that in real-life situations. I worry that sometimes women are taught to be agreeable which can make standing up for yourself difficult.

Which doesn't bode well for kids, where this is happening to them too. There should be absolutely no room for negotiating with or excusing an abuser. It's the lack of strong & lasting consequences that empowers the abuser & makes the abused feel it's all futile.
