I told this to my 5th grade students on Friday. Now they want to try figs. Kids are weird/cool
C’mon. I like figs. Did I really need to know this? By the way, I read this article a year ago. Why tweet it again now?
Almost too much info but hey ! More protein !!
I have no problem with eating wasp mummies.
Yum, mummies.
This happens only in some fig varieties. There are some others (the most actually) That are not pollinated by wasps or a y insects at all.
That's right. Fig-wasps pollinate all 750+ wild fig species but in Ficus carica (the edible fig), many varieties need no wasp to ripen
I've got 2500 fig trees planted in our family ranch in Durango, México. The varieties its Black Mission, That is self-pollinated
I’m ok with that. Fresh figs are the best!
Fig fresh cut rose. Homes to gods and spirits. Find your enlightenment too under a big fig tree!
We have that with apples and worms too.
I also heard there were trees that bare duck as fruit that went into extinction..
Is it the reason why do dried fig are so chewy?
Don't knock it. There's a lot of protein in insects. Next time don't step on a cockroach. Just eat it.
This is more gross than cow flesh?
2017, y'all...
Is that like eating tana leaves?
Wait, as far as I knew the enzyme produced by the fig dissolves/digests the wasp completely. No?
