Al Franken’s first response to Leeann Tweeden’s accusations was the kind of statement he would have laughed out of the room during a Senate hearing.http://nyer.cm/f3AxpDX

What kind of horseshit is this? Franken's "crime" is pretty much failing to signal a lane change vs the vehicular homicide of LCK, Weinstein et al. Of course he has to issue the PC "apology". The photo was a clearly staged photo op (in poor taste, but not uncommon). Geez...

I am a lifelong republican. If people think @alfranken should be replaced they are insane. His book started changing my viewpoint. I was so disappointed in this but understand it was a bad joke. I bet there will be no greater champion for woman than @alfranken going forward.

why are you reporting on a man that made ONE mistake, stay focused, we have a real sexual offender in WH, print all his accusers, over and over again

Bull. The woman didn't make a peep and backed off after he called for a senate investigation into the "incident" which would have required testimony under oath.

Sick of this attack on a man who took the blame, apologized, tried to make a bad thing better, and wanted to be investigated. Save your anger for Trump and Moore.

Please. Franken had a piggish moment. He did not keep pressuring, did not retaliate, did not use his power to ruin her career, did not choose a vulnerable girl he could frighten and silence, and did not trash the woman who spoke up. And he gave an introspective, sincere apology.

What's with the tabloid-style, unflattering, B&W "caught-in-the-headlights photo? And the @nypost subhead? What a load of crap, @NewYorker. Get back to what you used to be good at and dump the current political events.
