In the future, when people tell the story of pop’s dying days as a monolithic entity, they might point to Taylor Swift's “Reputation” as one of its final chapters: http://nyer.cm/1VeySAX pic.twitter.com/vrdbV25QkU

I think in the future people will point to overwrought articles like this that desperately needed to believe these songs required thinkpieces.

Very ok with society moving beyond the Taylor-obsessed era, it’s been long enough

Even my millennial god-daughter has outgrown bubble-gum addled Taylor Swift's arrested development. But Swift didn't kill pop, she contributed to its death, but the lack of REAL, non-autotuned talent is what killed Pop.

Is this The Insider? Art evolves & she moves through genres. Taylor Swift is not a country or pop artist, like most artists, she matured, & defies labels & genres. The New Yorker should be supportive & writing about the evolution of her art instead of predicting her demise.

This headline makes it sound like the claws are out where in reality the article is very forgiving of Swift.

What's dying is your hopeless suck-up conception of pop. And your job as you sadly conceived it. vibrantly, pop is a playfield for thousands of fleeting figures, not a parlor for a handful of overesteemed multi-millionaires
