        I don’t think it’ll puncture the zeitgeist, tbqh, language mostly simplifies rather than gets more complicated and English is not naturally accentual

        Depends on it’s origins English is a bastardised language that absorbs words from other languages all the time It’s about common usage And it’s what keeps it interesting & the linga Franca of choice

        Yeah, it’s great for international communication because it’s relatively simple compared to other indo-European languages. It’s not going to pick up an umlaut because 2 US newspapers start doing it. It would be an unnatural top-down change. Plus it’s naff, stylistically.
