@SciGuySpace in your recent article you claim that the NRC and GAO have disapproved of NASA's Mars mission plans... @NewYorker @arstechnica

@jsalsman I am referring to the NRC report Pathways to Explorationhttp://www.nap.edu/catalog/18801/pathways-to-exploration-rationales-and-approaches-for-a-us-program … -
@SciGuySpace FIg.1.9 in Sec.1.6.2 of that report indicates it's based on NASA's 2012 Mars plan which was terrible. Boeing's takes 5 launches -
@jsalsman I am not prepared to trust a Mars plan from the primary SLS contractor. -
@SciGuySpace Boeing "affordable" plan doesn't require SLS, although it depends on Orion CEV and a ton of related tech, most near TRLs today -
@jsalsman From your link: There are six basic elements of a Mars mission system; 1) Orion; 2) Space Launch System (SLS); (etc.) -
@SciGuySpace true sorry, but SLS is the thing for asteroid redirect, anyway, right? In any case we shouldn't imply 2012 Mars plan is current

@NewYorker@arstechnica if this is true, and they start mining the moon, we'd all die. The Earth can't survive without the moon.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
