@NewYorker Like the notion of Bloomberg as establishing the benevolent plutocrat model of politics. -
@lquartl I suppose that's how Berlusconi likes to see himself; but what a difference there can be between one billionaire and another. -
@mathof1 I may be somewhat critical of some of Bloomberg's policies, but he was neither corrupt nor purely self-interested. -
@lquartl Where would you place him in the pantheon of NYC mayors you have known in your lifetime? Who was best? Who was worst? -
@mathof1 Puts me on the spot. I never liked the arrogant, insensitive, big money Bloomberg, but he was the most effective of the mayors. -
@lquartl And the worst? -
@mathof1 Hard to decide between liberal, well-meaning Lindsay, the overwhelmed accountant Beame, and the authoritarian Giuliani. -
@lquartl Thanks. I think it's a good exercise to compare political leaders against one another; otherwise there's no realistic standard.
