@NewYorker Too bad murdering prostitutes and torturing people in order to "score points" poisons the digital wizardry.

@dogtown33 Can art depict bad things? http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/elements/2013/09/grand-theft-auto-v-how-evil-should-a-video-game-allow-you-to-be.html … Also, harmful effects are speculative, not clear in data http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/12/science/studying-the-effects-of-playing-violent-video-games.html?_r=0 … -
@itsneal Yes, it can. Whether games spark violence isn't the issue for me. I can't see any "good" in "play" that involves rape and torture. -
@itsneal Why no rape and torture in the trailer?"Many worse games" is no justification for sociopathic "play".Desensitisation is real. -
@dogtown33 There is no rape in the game, and the torture is pulling a tooth. I'm not arguing that literally anything goes, or is good taste. -
@itsneal Just murdering prostitutes? Watching fictional violence and "causing" it are not the same, especially with motion sensor technology -
@dogtown33 That was a hacked mod in a GTA game 9 years ago. And again data doesn't suggest harmful distinction between playing and watching. - 1 more reply
