One year ago, today, published the first in a series of articles by @ronanfarrow in which women brought allegations of rape, sexual assault, and sexual harassment against Harvey Weinstein. (Weinstein denied that he had committed rape or sexual assault.)http://nyer.cm/u0XoSuw

Farrow’s story came several days after a remarkable story in @nytimes, by @jodikantor and @mega2e, reported allegations that Weinstein had sexually harassed multiple women and paid them for their silence. http://nyer.cm/mRn1UFv

As interest in the accusations against him crested, @Alyssa_Milano tweeted, “If you’ve been sexually harassed or assaulted write ‘me too’ as a reply to this tweet,” prompting thousands of women (and men) to reactivate a slogan by @TaranaBurke, from 2006.http://nyer.cm/LasLq3g

Almost instantly, #MeToo became shorthand for a decentralized campaign against gender-based violence and abuse.http://nyer.cm/LasLq3g

The MeToo Movement is in urgent need to focus in Abuses prevention and education. MeToo can't continue by prompt women, to make public stories of abuse not necessarily true& without respect for the Rule of Law, destroy many individuals, maybe innocent lives, reputations&families

No it didn't, it became a cash in for celebrities and hack writers, while getting extraordinarily little done about a real and horrible problem. We don't need hashtags and celebrity endorsements and tweets and adverts, we need fucking conversation.
