“A Star Is Born” is very much a product of our times. In striving to make the whole thing rough and rooted, Bradley Cooper slakes our need for the apparently authentic, and yet the story he tells is little more than a fairy tale: http://nyer.cm/F4VVDIC pic.twitter.com/ompI1l3SuZ

Apparently, I need to play more Scrabble! "slake": quench or satisfy (one's thirst). "slake your thirst with some lemonade" synonyms: quench, satisfy; "we longed for a mountain spring to slake our thirst"

This is absurd over-analysis of a really, really good movie. Does this writer really even like movies? This article has convinced me that movie criticism takes away from the enjoyment of movies.

The original was good.Version two with Garland and Mason was genius; 3) with Streisand was garbage with a pleasant song and this is modern entertainment with no unique or charismatic artists anymore and no real need to do it( except 💰, the root of all evil and crap)🔮🛎✌️pic.twitter.com/yZkIMma8sb

‘Star is Born’ is meant to slake our need for a fairytale and, thusly, succeeds being one hundred percent authentic.

Bradley Cooper makes a remake of "A Star Is Born" feel fresh and relevant to modern times through exploring new age perspectives while retaining old values.

I’ve seen the second, third and now this installment and I was very pleased with it. Lady Gaga indeed tipped the scales and Bradley Cooper executed the movie well as a director. @anthonylane takes a big swing reviewing the movie. If you’re itching to see it, see it.

Hah. Now I don't have to see it just to prove it's not good (which is perverse, I know). I saw that blurb & thought 'Anthony Lane won't get sucked in! Hooray!'
