For Ian Buruma and Jian Ghomeshi and John Hockenberry, and for many others, the abuse of women is not the problem—naming it, and giving it consequences, is the problem. http://nyer.cm/3DM8LGg

I was locked in a room and gang raped for days, would have been killed if I had not escaped. When MeToo accusers call awkward flirtations "sexual assault," they make a mockery of real crime and life long PTSD effects with which I live. They seem very naive, unprepared for life.

Abusing women IS the problem first & following through on consequences and punishments is the 2nd problem

You equate Ian Buruma with Jian Ghomeshi & John Hockenberry? Buruma's editorial judgement can & should be questioned, but he did not (so far as we know) assault women, not is he accused of doing so by multiple sources. This era calls for more precision. This reader urges better.

The problem starts on day 1, when little boys are given privileges to exempt their behavior from consequences that females never get.

It is job of judges not editors. Imagine he did a crime after that he shouldn’t write? Or publish? How should he make money? Is this justice or killing writers and artists art

He can always work at Walmart. He's not owed a living as a writer or editor.

Is it extra punishment in addition to jail time. My friend criminals should have a chance to have a normal life after trial not to be punished their hole life

I am a subscriber - but maybe not for much longer? Now even the New Yorker falls prey to the intoxicating lure of virtue signalling. "Zeal to accuse is received as proof of civism." ~ Jeanne Manon Roland, French Revolutionary. Plus ca change, plus ca la meme chose.

Is journalism and publishing only good when it resembles the moral outrage found on Twitter?
