During the past two years, Glenn Greenwald has further exiled himself from the mainstream American left by responding with skepticism and disdain to reports of Russian interference in the 2016 Presidential election: http://nyer.cm/SnkYfLw pic.twitter.com/BziXf949GJ

@ggreenwald what do you make of how the piece turned out as it comes across as though you won't let facts get in the way of a good argument

As I documented in this thread, one of the functions of the @NewYorker long has been to demonize and try to exile from Decent Liberal Company anyone who dissents too much from their orthodoxies, & they always use the same script: see Chomsky & @NaomiAKleinhttps://twitter.com/ggreenwald/status/1034786603057733632 …

1/ In the wake of the @NewYorker profile, several people recommended I look at the ugly 2003 hit piece that magazine did on Chomsky (on the even of the Iraq War) & 2008 attack on Naomi Klein after "Shock Doctrine." It is striking how they use the same expel-from-mainstream script pic.twitter.com/rr1BKBa5JJ

It's scary on one hand conservative ideologues who blatantly ignore facts while on the other the agenda-setting intellectual media which appear to be standing up for ordinary people but often cement the power of the elite and ignore that the political and economic system is broke

Biggest story in the world right now should be concentration of corporate power and that humanity will be wiped out within decades if we maintain this course but we're doing nothing because vested interests who care only about short term profits have taken over politics

All the fools who believed the dogma about Trump being anti-establishment or that tax cuts to the rich would trickle down have got to realise they are being screwed and that anger is going to turn into a grassroots revolution, I think. That anger against the elite is still there.

It's really amusing to find the corporate media describe itself as the "mainstream left". There's nothing "left" in a media which attacks the progressive cause and defends centrism, oligarchy and on occasion the right wing.

The "mainstream American left" isn't left at all, but a paranoid war-seeking farce. If you support war with Russia, you're right-wing. If you support sanctions against Russia, you're right wing. If you support the media's McCarthyist fearmongering about Russia, you're right wing.

Maddow is right wing. Joy Ann Reid is right wing. New York Times is right wing. Washington Post is right wing. CNN is right wing. MSNBC is right wing. Anyone stoking paranoia in order for war or sanctions on a country is right wing. Only people like Glenn Greenwald are left wing.

Bernie is as left as a Congressman gets on the economy and left of his peers on foreign policy, but he's too aggressive regarding Russia's alleged interference. Maybe it's rhetoric to placate warmongers and saber-rattlers, but I dislike it. They deserve to get told what they are.

Lets not forget that Saudi Arabia & China also regularly interfere in US elections The SCALE of election interference from Israel, China & KSA make ANY Russia-linked schemes look like child’s play Personally, I’m more concerned w US electoral interference from US oligarchs
