On Labor Day, the episode involving the actor Geoffrey Owens at Trader Joe's is a fitting subject to consider. We don’t tend to think of actors as laborers, despite the robust unions that represent them.http://nyer.cm/TWMC08f

appreciate the sentiment here, but you could have just addressed the concept without naming the individual and dragging out his week from hell

How is this different than seeing actors work as waiters? If you dont have "steady work" you dont have an income or benefits. Why is this news?!??!

Attempted shaming. I think a majority of the Twitterverse stood on the right side of this one

How many more articles on this? It's like a journalistic hall of mirrors of douchbaggery.

it should be noted that the majority of the shaming comes from racist media click bait farms like Faux News and the Daily Fail. The majority of twitter and people on social media are dragging the CLICKBAIT FARMS!

I noticed the same thing. We've got bigger problems and those same usual sites tried to demean a POC for working at a job.

Poor guy. Now you’re exploiting him, too? Did you contact him first, ask how he would like to be treated in this mess?

There is no shame in being a decent human being, doing ordinary work. I pity the soulless vampires who don’t comprehend this.

The article makes a good point about the effect of Cosby’s actions on his cast mates. Those residuals are drying up through no fault of their own

Started well. Went off the rails by including Cynthia Nixon. He’s presently doing manual labor and is a working actor who’s worthy of more attention. She’s a star and a millionaire who gets plenty of press.. Lose the monacle.

I was in a room with Mike Pence years ago as people said what they did for a living. One guy was clearly embarrassed by his job. Pence told him, “Honest work is honorable work.” I don’t agree w/Pence on much, but I admired him for putting the man at ease. A lesson for @FoxNews?

Surprisingly...Black people job shame a lot. I heard a group of young Black women in college call the custodian a slave...even tho some custodians have children in college. I hear Black professionals, especially younger ones, crack jokes & call blue collar workers bums & slaves.
