Women who are sexually harassed in the workplace feel that their dignity has been violated, that they are being treated as less than fully human. Francis Fukuyama gives this desire for recognition a Greek name, taken from Plato’s Republic: thymos.http://nyer.cm/zWOiRfx

One month after Trump stole the 2016 election, my Trump loving male boss at a law firm shut himself in my office refused to open door after I told him how uncomfortable it made me. I asked 2x nicely then screamed “leave my office.” Didn’t budge, so I called 911 on cell.

Police came. I could no longer stay at that firm - I was making upper 5 figures for part time work (I’m a widowed single Mom). I spent 2017 so angry and pissed off at men because of him and Trump. Got out of law, getting MSW & working w/brain injury patients. How I Saved My Soul.

So wanting the baseline dignity (that males in the dominant culture get automatically at birth) accorded to you makes you responsible for the ills of the current day? Thanks, I’ll pass.

What I hate is when a female coworker uses her sexuality to manipulate management to get things over more qualified peers. Then crys foul when it backfires on them.

Louis Menand superficially analyzes thymos as it relates to Fukuyama’s arguments

If prof. Fukuyama wants to claim honors for pointing to Identity Politics as a threat to our republic, he can get in line behind Thomas Jefferson and James Madison (at least).

Fukuyama's end-times cult is somehow more respectable than all the other end-times cults among the smart set?
