Beto O’Rourke’s viral comments on the N.F.L.’s anthem-kneeling controversy sounded as if a history professor had interrupted a political rally to rattle off topics from his “Civil Rights in America” syllabus: http://nyer.cm/DryTh5L pic.twitter.com/FXzKibMEpd

So black people, for more than year tried to articulate and explain about reasons why NFL anthem kneeling was necessary. Justified reasons. Here comes Beto O' Rourke, who I like, gives his explanation for players kneeling and so the media now gets it?

From where I stand/sit/kneel from way across the Pacific it has been clear that the media have understood it for a long time. It’s just that here you have a candidate who is articulating it clearly to a receptive audience during the lead up to an election. It’s newsworthy.

No it didn't. It sounded like a compassionate person who had given it some thought giving an honest answer. I'm baffled how this is such a sensation.
