John McCain has died. As a valedictory act of patriotism, morality, and public service, he gathered his energies to clarify his principles, to review his mistakes, and to call out the low character and corruptions of the leader of his party: http://nyer.cm/fikAlqM  (From May)pic.twitter.com/1fWNrBIeJb

John McCain also made it rather clear who he did NOT want attending his funeral.https://twitter.com/disturbedcorpse/status/1033552187404763136?s=21 …

McCain’s passing underlines to me that America takes good people and makes them do bad things. He took part in the horrific and disastrous Vietnam war - something that never should have happened in the name of serving his country.

He took Sarah Palin someone from the extreme racist part of his party as his running mate for the election against Obama. That’s why he had to defend Obama against people that were saying he was an Arab/Terrorist.

Meanwhile Trump - the cowardly, valueless, vacuous and abject excuse for a human being dodged the draft with absolutely no consequences or censure and is now president.

The present quagmire the US is steeped in doesn’t happen by accident, it happens with well over 100 years of terrible decision making. Thwarting any significant move forward with cynical and venal regression.

Whether you agreed with John McCain or not, you had to acknowledge his decency, unless-of course-you're Donald Trump!

Such the fuck up, @NewYorker Can you have the common decency to honor John McCain without using his death as a cudgel against a duly elected President? Answer: No, which is why I canceled my longstanding subscription long ago. #TotalRag
