Oh, the irony in these replies.

Content of article: “if any white people disagree with its contents, it’s evidence that the article is correct” that logic bites its own tail and this is true no matter the colour of the skin of the person who points that out.

Robin DiAngelo: "You asked me, “What would you call the difference perhaps between Trump and me?” But I actually think, yeah, we both are racists." By her logic no white person can accuse Trump of racism because all white people are racist. This is how DiAngelo normalizes racism.

FFS. I did wonder what we would do when the world ran out of problems. But I imagined we might get creative, find some interesting imaginative puzzles to solve. Instead we have decided to obsess over this identity politics nonsense. What a waste of a generation

Doesn't the concept of "white fragility" devalue a person's experiences based on nothing but their skin color?

What I love about bringing up With Fragility is the number of white people who pop up to argue against it because obviously they know they themselves are not the problem. Must be tough not being a part of any problems all the time.

This is true, and a concept I have tried to explain to white friends for years to no avail.

Skin color is simply another genetic trait, no different than hair color, eye color, etc. I don't know why it gets more attention that any other trait. Should people with brown hair be "better" than other hair colors? It's ridiculous.

Attacking liberals & progressives is central to DiAngelo's message. She says in her book: "I believe that white progressives cause the most daily damage to people of color." If she's not working for Republicans, she might as well be.https://www.goodreads.com/work/quotes/58159636-white-fragility-why-it-s-so-hard-for-white-people-to-talk-about-racism …

WW avoiding confrontation is a widespread, learned & ingrained norm Women MUST be directly taught & encouraged to embrace confrontation powerfully The ‘diagnostic’ call to accept racism & stay silent is no better than the silence & inability to create change mainting racism now
-
White woman here. Ready to confront you on your support for a crackpot like Robin DiAngelo who normalizes racists like Trump by claiming all white people (including of course Hillary & Bernie) are racists.
-
Hi NG, Thanks for pushing back :) My tweet was not in support for her/this idea, but I appreciate the dialogue. Short thread ahead: The impression I get from DiAngelo is that she is oversimplifying racism & furthering division w/empty labels, not to mention blatant sexism /1
-
Offering mere diagnosis w/o tangible steps ahead serves to maintain silence & the status quo — The point I failed to make earlier may be better summarized on a personal level: As white woman, I have been told all my life to 'say it nicer’ & avoid confrontation at all costs. /2

I’ve spent years trying to unlearn that timidity in the face of discrimination as a woman & as a adult coping w/disabling chronic illness. Silence is silence is silence whether it’s based in acceptance, ignorance or fear. Social change requires commitment— /3
-
Commitment to empathy, education & vulnerability + respect for basic human truths: -No one chose the circumstances they were born into -Offers to help come from a genuine place, return genuine opportunity -Being right is never as important as doing right /end/
