A gathering at Wheaton College sought to disentangle the word “evangelical” from its current association with far-right partisan politics and re-center it on Christ and the church.http://nyer.cm/RIa29RO

Evangelicals can try to "re-center" the word all they wish, but as long as they support racism, xeonphobia, sexual abuse, child abuse and other kinds of hate, they are no more Christ-like than Donald Trump.

Remains to be seen if such 'rebranding' strategies will work for evangelicals who bear much of the blame for voting in Trump. Too much damage done.

Yes. When Christians attempt to force their views on non-believers via coercive laws, they fail miserably. Jesus never -- NEVER -- advocated government solutions to social/economic problems. He expected his followers to serve others, not vote for coercion and serve themselves.

What a shame the group could not compose a statement that reflects their beliefs and concerns . Jerry FalwellJr more than willing to release a comment that “ Trump is just like us “https://twitter.com/jerryfalwelljr/status/1030116433429184513?s=21 …

We have been duped into viewing politicians as royalty when our Founders intended them to be only temp public servants. Complaints @realDonaldTrump is not “presidential” are because he acts like one of us-exactly why our Founders fought in Rev War to win independence from royalty

Is it? I would argue that "love your neighbor as yourself" is worth arguing over.
