In the past few years, a subset of straight men calling themselves “incels” have constructed a violent political ideology around the injustice of young, beautiful women refusing to have sex with them: http://nyer.cm/YndEn0W pic.twitter.com/RwiCUrUUqA

I've heard about these idiots. I, myself, haven't been with a ton of women, but that's because I don't have "game". Certainly wouldn't fault any stunningly beautiful women for having good sense. 😉

Even beautiful women get rejected. Everyone experiences rejection. The difference is, other groups of people are expected to know how to cope.

Along with this terrible idea "incels" aren't getting the sex they feel they deserve/want is the idea that beautiful people do get what they want. But that's a fallacy. Everyone experiences rejection. It's just these men never learned how to cope.

Apparently you're unfamiliar with these loser "incels" who shoot up places, targeting attractive women. I think this situation is more serious than you're giving it credit. I doubt very much that a hot chick feeling rejected is going to go "postal" on a pack of men.

That's my point. For some reason these (mostly white) men never learn to cope. Then they become dangerous. I 100% agree. As a woman, I live in fear of them. I've collected articles over the years about all the violence they've done because 'women are mean' to them.

I was simply making the point that these incels have a misperception that other people run around getting everything they want but they don't. They're more normal than they know - they just can't f*cling deal, like everyone else does.https://www.damemagazine.com/2017/10/24/men-are-killing-thousands-women-year-saying-no/ …

Thank you for this article. Fascinating and frightening. If you want to see a glimpse into "incel" type minds, watch the documentary "Crumb". All the brothers seem to display some degree of what Jia has described here.

I remember back in the day when the New Yorker used to write journalistic quality articles and not act as pawns for political ends. Incels are nothing more than a by product of feminism, Generally harmless. Why not focus on a more harmful ideology: Islam?

I still find it hard to believe that this is a real "thing" and not a "made for Post Fairness Act news" talking point. Not to be blasé, but why don't they just pay for it? I'm serious. This entire narrative presupposes there are "insurmountable barriers" when there aren't.

I worry that articles like this simply spread publicity for a scary and (hopefully) very marginalized ideology, as well as spreading fear of (and subsequently more attention for) those who ascribe.
